Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is home to the Vermont Raptor Center which treats more than 400 injured birds annually in the hope of returning them to the wild. Visitors are invited to tour the Raptor Center's living museum of 25 live species of falcons, eagles, hawks, owls, and other birds of prey. Enjoy guided walking tours, flight demonstrations and up-close encounters. Group tours are available. The Vermont Institute of Natural Science is devoted to protecting Vermont's natural heritage through education and research, engaging individuals and communities in the active care of the environment.

Hanover, NH

Hanover, New Hampshire is a quintessential New England college town. An afternoon in Hanover with a walk through the Dartmouth College campus provides an equal amount of New England charm and upscale dining and shopping. Just 30 minutes north on I-91, Hanover is an easy drive from the resort.

Enjoy the romance of winters gone by with an old fashion horse-drawn sleigh ride. The ride begins in the pasture of The Chase House and the sleigh is pulled by a friendly Belgian Draft Horse. Glide through the fields with views of Mount Ascutney. Upon returning to the Inn you can warm up next by the fire and have a steaming cup of hot chocolate or hot mulled cider.

This is a museum consisting of great hands-on, child friendly exhibits. Montshire offers two floors packed with dozens of exciting exhibits on astronomy, natural history and the physical sciences. There are picnic areas, nature walks and overlooks of the nearby Connecticut River. Live animals include a see-through beehive, boa constrictors, a leafcutter ant colony, and aquariums featuring freshwater fish and turtles found in Vermont waters.

Visitors can can observe glassblowers creating pieces from start to finish, watch pottery being made, or purchase from the extensive selection at the retail stores.

Harpoon Brewery– 888-HARPOON
Sitting on the banks of the Connecticut River, the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor produces hand-crafted beers every day. Stop by and try some for yourself! Tours and tastings are offered, as well as a gift shop with a variety of Harpoon memorabilia and a Beer Garden. Come enjoy the great beer that has made Harpoon the largest craft brewer in New England.

Woodstock, VT

Woodstock, Vermont provides a wealth of shops galleries and eateries for every taste, plus the charm of a quaint New England village. Woodstock is just 15 minutes north of Ascutney Mountain Resort.
